What Made Me Want To Build This Web Site?

Having a web site was an idea that always intrigued me. I thought it would be neat to have my own site. But there were always several obstacles in my way…

>

I wasn’t a programmer…I had never built one before…I didn’t feel like I knew enough about one subject to make a web site.

Do any of those reasons sound familiar to you?

I have always been passionate about volleyball, but I didn’t feel like there was anyway to have a business about playing volleyball. I thought that no one else would have any interest in learning about how to play volleyball.

During my searches to find a way to have an online business, I came across Site Build It! and the tools they have to offer. I learned about taking something that you are passionate about and creating a business out of it. Click here to see how to turn your passion into a business.

After doing some research on their site, I realized that there was a way to make money, working from home, and doing something that I was passionate about. I knew that it would take some time, patience, and effort but I realized that there was a vehicle.

At that point, now I started wondering if they were credible or not. I was pleasantly surprised. Take a look at this:

When I saw all of these people talking about how they had been successful in building a site, I wanted to know if there were only a select few that were successful or if there were others. Then I saw how many of their customers have been in the top 1% of all web sites. Click here to see it.

I came to the conclusion that if so many people could use this tool to build a successful business, that there would be a chance for someone like me. I could build a website about something that I am passionate about and enjoy what I am doing from home.

Volleyball Statistics Made Easy!

Keeping volleyball statistics can be frustrating and at times near impossible. In order to help volleyball coaches and their assistants, I wanted to address a section on keeping stats and offer a free download for those coaches that need a statistics sheet.

Here is where you can download the statistics sheet for volleyball.

There are some simple things that will help you keep accurate stats. There are six categories of stats that you will keep. They are serving, attacks, setting, blocking, passing, and defense.

Volleyball Statistics Made EasyYour stats on attacks will all be based on the premise that a player made a strategic hit and intended to score. Without that qualifier, then there is not an attack.

Setting statistics occur when a player passes or sets the ball to a teammate that gets a kill. A player can get a setting or assist without the ball being “set” and it does not have to be on the second contact.

When it comes to serving, an ace is when the serve goes untouched, contact is made by the ball goes out of play (shanked pass), or a passing violation is called. When any of these conditions are met, it is a service ace.

Passing is based on the initial contact after the serve. So, you should have a reception attempt for EVERY serve.

The Best Volleyball Drills To Train Your Team!

These drills are optimized for all team skill levels with variations to keep it fresh and productive. Come see these volleyball drills and learn how to improve your team.

Defensive stats are based on digs. You will count a dig for a player that receives an attacked ball and keeps it in play. Digs only occur on balls that are attacked. That is a common mistake when it comes to volleyball statistics.

Finally, blocking is based on when the block leads to a point. If the block does not result in a point, then it is not a block from a statistics point of view. When a player touches the ball on a block, that also does not count. However, if it ended in a point, it could have been a solo block, or an assisted block.

Volleyball stats can be hard to keep because of how fast the game moves. However, if you follow the rules that I have spelled out above, then keeping stats for your volleyball team will be much easier and more consistent.

Good luck and happy stats!

Awesome Volleyball Practice Drills

Finding volleyball practice drills that are appropriate for your team can be a difficult thing to do. When you can find drills that will benefit the entire team by working on all the fundamentals of the game, everyone will get to develop their skills.

The drill included here is called Pass Set Attack drill. It is one of many very basic volleyball drills, but the benefit is great. The drill goes like this:

Pass Set Attack Step 1

Volleyball Practice Drills 1This is the starting position.

Player 1 is going to serve the ball (so that you practice serving) to player 2.

The basic volleyball drills can be repeated on the other side of the net at the same time.

Pass Set Attack Step 2

Volleyball Practice Drills 2Player 2 receives the serve (passing practice) and passes the ball to player 3.

Player 3 will set the ball (setting practice) back to player 2 so that player 2 can attack the ball at the net.

Pass Set Attack Step 3

Volleyball Practice Drills 3While player 3 is setting the ball, player 2 will begin to make their approach to attack the ball.

Player 2 will attack the ball (hitting practice).

The coach can choose to have players focus on different attacks (roll shots, power shots, tips, or tooling the block). This allows flexibility for hitters to work on developing the necessary skills. That is another reason this is a great volleyball practice drills.

Player 4 will try to block the attack of player 2 (blocking practice).

Pass Set Attack Step 4

Volleyball Practice Drills 4After the attack and block is completed, the players will rotate positions.

Player 1 will move to where player 2 was.

Player 2 will move to where player 3 was.

Player 3 will move to where player 4 was.

Player 4 will move to where player 1 was.

Pass Set Attack Step 5

Volleyball Practice Drills 5After the players have moved, they should look like this in their new place.

The drill repeats and goes on as needed as determined by the coach.

This is one of many great volleyball practice drills because all you are doing is passing, setting, and blocking. However, it is a great drill to focus on all major volleyball skills that will be used in all game situations.

Nose dive

by Heather
(Hattiesburg,MS,USofA )

My team was down 3 the score, 17 to 20. No one was making clean passes to the setter so she could set me. Then finally the ball comes over the net and straight to her. She attempts to set me, I’m on the left side facing the net and she throws the ball like 5ft left out of my reach. I’m known for diving on my stomach to retrieve ground balls. So I take a leap of like 3.5ft and dive for it. We still had one more hit do I passes it to the middle of the court. After hitting the ball up I immediately use my hands to stop me but not this time. I hit the ball and my face smacked that gym floor, chin first then my noes and forehead. I tried to just hop up but my coach was hollering for me to just stay down. He asked me if my teeth were broken or chipped. My teeth were fine but my nose was gushing blood and bruising super fast, my chin was already bruising too. I’m not really one to cry my motto is no pain no game but these were those involuntary tears you can’t control. Coach carried me to the bench and a bencher took my place on the court. My team really cleaned up their passes and we won the game! The girl that took my place saw my face hit the floor better than anyone else and she told me she got that super scary feeling you get when your watching a scary movie alone. lol
